Shelby Township man bound over on charges of Second-Degree Murder, Tampering with Evidence

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Terrance Lamar Bowie, II, a 29-year-old Shelby Township man, was bound over on charges of Second-Degree Murder and Tampering with Evidence related to the death of a woman in Shelby Township in July 2025.

On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Bowie’s Preliminary Exam was held before Judge Stephen S. Sierawski in the 41A District Court in Shelby Township, MI. At the end of the hearing, Judge Sierawski ruled that sufficient evidence exists to bind Bowie over for trial on all counts. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Stone represented the People at the Exam.

Bowie was bound over on the following charges:

  • Homicide – Second Degree, a life or any term of years felony
  • Tampering with Evidence – a 10-year felony

Bowie will be arraigned before Judge James M. Biernat, Jr. at the Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens, MI on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Bowie is in custody at the Macomb County Jail on a $2 million bond.

It is alleged that on Saturday, July 19, 2025, police responded to a Shelby Township apartment after a 911 call. Bowie let the police into the apartment. After police investigation, the body of Brittany Harris-Beauchamp, a 27-year-old Madison Heights woman, was found. It appeared her body had been moved within the room.

“The court’s decision to bind over the defendant affirms that there is sufficient evidence to move this case forward to trial. The loss of a human life is irreversible, and the victim and her loved ones deserve justice. My office will proceed with this prosecution with resolve and integrity, holding the defendant accountable in court and ensuring that the facts are presented clearly and forcefully,” said Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
