Shelby Township man accused of first degree murder in shooting death of stepfather

Mount Clemens, Mich. – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Trevin Beemer, 38, of Shelby Township, Mich., was arraigned on multiple felony counts stemming from the shooting death of his stepfather at a residence in Shelby Township.

It is alleged that on July 9, 2026, Beemer forcibly accessed a gun case to obtain a firearm and shot his stepfather multiple times inside the residence they shared. It is further alleged that, following the shooting, he attempted to remove a witness from the residence and prevent the witness from contacting law enforcement to report the incident.

On Friday, July 10, 2026, Beemer was arraigned on the following offenses before Magistrate Alayan in the 41-A District Court in Shelby Township:

• Homicide – Murder First Degree – Premeditated, a felony punishable by life without parole
• Weapons – Felony Firearm – a 2-year felony consecutive to main charge
• Weapons – Firearms – Discharge in or at a Building, a 10-year felony
• Weapons – Felony Firearm – a 2-year felony consecutive to main charge
• Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony
• Weapons – Felony Firearm – a 2-year felony consecutive to main charge
• Weapons – Ammunition – Possession by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony
• Weapons – Felony Firearm – a 2-year felony consecutive to main charge
• Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a 4-year felony
• Weapons – Felony Firearm – a 2-year felony consecutive to main charge
• Interfering with Electronic Communications Device Causing Injury or Death, a 4-year felony
• Habitual Offender – Second Offense Notice, an aggravating sentencing factor.

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.

"This case involves allegations of an extraordinarily violent act committed within the victim's own home. We extend our condolences to the victim's loved ones and will continue to seek justice on behalf of the community," stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

Beemer was denied bond and is in custody at the Macomb County Jail. 

Beemer is scheduled to appear at a Probable Cause Conference before Judge Stephen S. Sierawski at the 41-A District Court in Shelby Township on Tuesday, Jul 21, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
