Roseville Man Bound Over to Circuit Court in Fatal Alleged Drunk Driving Crash on Groesbeck Highway

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 26-year-old Travis Turner of Roseville has been bound over for trial on charges in connection with a fatal vehicle crash that occurred on Groesbeck Highway in Roseville.

A preliminary examination hearing was held before Judge Kathleen E. Tocco in the 39th District Court in Roseville on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, and Friday, May 8, 2026, by Assistant Prosecuting Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Natalie Sullivan and Daniel DeBruin.

At the conclusion of the preliminary examination, Turner was bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court as charged:

Count 1: Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death, a 15-year felony

Count 2: Weapons – Firearms – Possession Under the Influence, a 93-day misdemeanor

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.

It is alleged that on Thursday, April 9, 2026, Turner was operating a white 2016 Ford Fusion at a high rate of speed when he struck a black 2006 Saturn Ion. The driver of the Saturn, 85-year-old Eleanor Johnson of Oak Park, was pronounced dead at the scene. Turner sustained minor injuries, while his passenger and girlfriend, 23-year-old Alexandra Clugh of Bloomfield Hills, suffered injuries that remain unknown in severity. It is alleged that Turner was in possession of a firearm at the time of the crash. It is further alleged that Turner’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit at the time of the incident.

Turner is scheduled to appear in Macomb County Circuit Court for an Arraignment on the Information on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. before Judge James M. Biernat.

“Every time someone drinks and gets behind the wheel, they make a choice to put lives at risk.  We will work to see that justice is achieved for the deceased victim,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
