Roseville man arraigned on OWI Causing Death related to fatal car crash on Groesbeck

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 26-year-old Travis Turner of Roseville has been arraigned on serious charges in connection with a fatal vehicle crash that occurred yesterday on Groesbeck Highway in Roseville.

It is alleged that on Thursday, April 9, 2026, Turner was operating a white 2016 Ford Fusion at a high rate of speed when he struck a black 2006 Saturn Ion. The driver of the Saturn, 85-year-old Eleanor Johnson of Oak Park, was pronounced dead at the scene. Turner sustained minor injuries, while his passenger and girlfriend, 23-year-old Alexandra Deif of Bloomfield Hills, suffered injuries that remain unknown in severity.

It is alleged that Turner was in possession of a firearm at the time of the crash. It is further alleged that Turner’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit at the time of the incident.

On Friday, April 10, 2026, Turner was arraigned before Judge Kathleen E. Tocco in the 39th District Court in Roseville, MI. Turner was arraigned on the following charges:

  • Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death, a 15-year felony
  • Weapons – Firearms – Possession Under the Influence, a 93-day misdemeanor

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.

Judge Tocco set Turner’s bond at $100,000 cash/surety. As conditions of release, Turner must wear both a GPS tether and an alcohol monitoring device.

Turner is scheduled to appear for a Probable Cause Conference on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, followed by a Preliminary Examination on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Both hearings will take place before Judge Tocco at the 39th District Court at 8:30 a.m.

“Every time someone drinks and gets behind the wheel, they are making a conscious choice to put lives at risk. The allegations are that this defendant was legally intoxicated when the crash occurred and a woman is now deceased. There is no way to bring her back. However, my office will work to see that justice is achieved,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All individuals who are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
