Roseville man arraigned on multiple charges including Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting Arrest

Press Release

Mt. Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 43-year-old Antoine Mahoney, of Roseville, MI, was arraigned on multiple counts after allegedly fleeing from law enforcement and resisting arrest on the side of westbound I-94 in Detroit.

It is alleged that on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, Eastpointe Police officers in a marked patrol vehicle with lights and sirens attempted to stop Mahoney on westbound I-94 in Eastpointe, MI. While an officer in full uniform instructed Mahoney to turn off his vehicle, he drove away from the scene. The officer pursued Mahoney along I-94 as he fled at a high rate of speed, repeatedly entering and exiting the expressway while disregarding traffic control devices. Mahoney eventually slowed and exited his still-moving vehicle. His vehicle rolled back and hit a police vehicle. Mahoney resisted arrest and was tased before being taken into custody with the assistance of additional officers.

On Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, Mahoney was arraigned before Judge Kathleen G. Galen in the 38th District Court in Eastpointe, MI on the following charges:

  1. Police Officer - Fleeing - Third Degree - Vehicle Code, a 5-year felony
  2. Malicious Destruction Of Fire Or Police Property, a 4-year felony
  3. Police Officer - Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing, a 2-year felony
  4. Police Officer - Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing, a 2-year felony
  5. Driving – Reckless, a 93-day misdemeanor
  6. Operating - License Suspended, Revoked, Denied, a 93-day misdemeanor

Mahoney also has a Habitual Offender - Third Offense Notice, which is an aggravating sentencing factor.

Judge Galen set Mahoney’s bond at $200,000 cash/surety only, no 10%.

Mahoney is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference before Judge Galen at the 38th District Court in Eastpointe, MI on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, and a Preliminary Exam on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, both at 1:00 p.m.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido stated, “If the allegations in this case are true, it is nothing short of a miracle that no one was hurt or killed. Fleeing from law enforcement and resisting arrest are reckless, dangerous acts that show a complete disregard for the law and the safety of our community. As always, my office will pursue justice vigorously on behalf of the people we serve."

Prosecutor Lucido called on Michigan lawmakers to come together in support of strong, bipartisan legislation to address the growing public safety threat of drivers who refuse to stop for law enforcement. He is pleased that progress has been made to impose tougher penalties on those who refuse to stop for police.

“Every time someone runs, they roll the dice with innocent lives. I want to end that gamble,” Prosecutor Lucido said.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
