Preliminary Exam continues for Commerce man facing charges in connection with Clinton Township building explosion, death

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that the court proceedings for Noor Noel Kestou have been continued to Monday, August 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the 41-B District Court before Judge Sebastian Lucido. Friday, July 18, 2025, marked the second day of Kestou’s preliminary exam, which began on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Carmen DeFranco called five witnesses. It is expected that on Monday, August 25, 2025, the four remaining witnesses will testify.

Kestou is facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter, a 15-year felony, in connection to a Clinton Township building explosion and death of 19-year-old Turner Salter of Clinton Township. It is alleged that on Monday, March 4, 2024, a building owned and operated by Kestou exploded when thousands of nitrous oxide and butane cans were stored in the building. One of the nitrous oxide canisters struck Salter in the head, killing him.

“The death of this 19-year-old young man is a devastating and unacceptable tragedy, one that stems from alleged grossly negligent behavior. His family is now forced to live with a loss no parent should ever face. We are committed to holding individuals accountable for their actions and ensuring the full weight of the evidence is brought forward in court,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
