Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that, while the prosecution was ready to proceed, the court adjourned the previously scheduled Preliminary Exam for Jasan Martin, Rachard Huffman, and Dawn Huffman until February 2026 at the request of defense counsel.
The Preliminary Examination for Jasan Martin, Rachard Huffman, and Dawn Huffman was scheduled to be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, before Judge Stephen S. Sierawski in the 41A District Court in Shelby Township, Michigan, but the matter did not proceed. While Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Carrie Seward stated that she was prepared to hold the exam, the court granted the defense attorneys’ request for an adjournment. The Preliminary Examination has been rescheduled for February 19 and 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
Jasan Martin, of Eastpointe, is charged with six felonies.
- Assault with Intent To Murder, a life or any term of years felony
- Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge
- Weapons - Firearms - Possession By Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony
- Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge
- Weapons - Dangerous Weapon - Carrying With Unlawful Intent, a 5-year felony
- Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge
- Martin also has a Habitual Offender - Fourth Offense Notice, subjecting him to mandatory life in prison if convicted of any of the primary felonies.
Rachard Deandre Huffman, of Sterling Heights, is charged with
- Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder, a life offense, and
- Conspiracy to Commit Embezzlement – Agent or Trustee $1,000 or More but Less Than $20,000, a five-year felony.
Dawn Huffman, also of Sterling Heights, MI, is charged with
- Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder, a life offense,
- Embezzlement of $100,000 or More, a 20-year felony, and
- Conspiracy to Commit Embezzlement – Agent or Trustee $1,000 or More but Less Than $20,000, a five-year felony.
Dawn Huffman, formerly the office manager for Jawad Investments, is accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from the company. Prosecutors allege that she, along with her husband Rachard Huffman and his brother Jasan Martin, conspired to silence the company’s owner, Eddie Jawad, after he noticed unusual activity on a business credit card. It is alleged that on Oct. 14, 2025, Martin hid under a vehicle in Jawad’s driveway and fired multiple gunshots as Jawad drove past.
“Our office remains fully prepared to move this prosecution forward, and we remain committed to ensuring that justice and accountability are achieved for Macomb County,” Prosecutor Lucido said.
