Mount Clemens man charged after allegedly ending argument by shooting his neighbor

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Jared Harris, 28, of Mount Clemens, has been arraigned on charges including assault with intent to murder in connection with the alleged shooting of his neighbor.

It is alleged that Harris and the neighbor, both residents of the same apartment complex, had an ongoing dispute regarding noise. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, the two became involved in a verbal altercation. Harris allegedly produced a handgun and shot the victim in the abdomen. 

On Monday, January 26, 2026, Harris was arraigned before Magistrate Ryan Zemke at the 41-B District Court in Clinton Township, MI on the following charges:

Count 1: Assault with Intent to Murder, a life or any term of years felony

Count 2: Weapons - Felony Firearm, mandatory 2-year felony consecutive to main charge

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date. 

Magistrate Zemke set Harris’s bond at $250,000 cash/surety. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim. Harris is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., before Judge Sebastian Lucido at the 41-B District Court in Clinton Township, MI.

“It is alleged that the defendant introduced a firearm during an argument. Situations like this show how quickly a dispute can escalate and put people at real risk when a weapon is involved. Our office takes incidents involving guns very seriously and will move this case forward through the appropriate process,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
