Mount Clemens, MI - Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 45-year-old Lemuel Young, of Sterling Heights, waived his Preliminary Exam and was bound over to the Macomb County Circuit Court on charges related to him intentionally hitting a school safety officer and principal with his vehicle.
On Thursday, December 11, 2025, a Probable Cause Conference was held before Judge Annemarie M. Lepore at the 41A District Court. Defense counsel motioned the court to lower Young’s $10,000 cash/surety, no 10% bond. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Erica Clute-Cubbin objected to the reduction and the court agreed with Clute-Cubbin. The court referred the matter of Young’s bond to Community Corrections for a review and recommendation.
Young waived his right to a Preliminary Exam and was bound over to the Macomb County Circuit Court. He will be arraigned before Judge Anthony R. Servitto on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. He faces two counts of Felonious Assault, each a 4-year felony.
“While no serious injuries occurred, the alleged behavior in this case is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our community. By proceeding directly to trial, we will ensure the legal process addresses this matter fully. Our office is committed to upholding law and order and holding those who violate it accountable," stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
On Thursday, December 4, 2025, vehicles were blocking the bus lane at Bemis Jr. High School in Sterling Heights, MI. It is alleged that the school safety officer approached Young’s vehicle and asked him to move, but he refused. When the officer walked in front of the vehicle, Young moved forward, striking the victim’s legs. The principal was called to assist and also asked Young to move, but he again refused. While the principal was in front of the vehicle, Young struck him three times. The victims did not suffer serious injury.
