Macomb County Corrections Deputy arraigned on criminal charges

Mt. Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that a Macomb County Corrections Deputy was arraigned on charges related to an incident that occurred at the Macomb County Jail.

It is alleged that on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, Corrections Deputy Daniel Gallus assaulted an inmate at the Macomb County Jail resulting in the incarcerated person needing a head scan and stitches at a hospital. 

On Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, Gallus was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township, MI before Magistrate Ryan Zemke. 

Gallus was charged with the following: 

1. Obstruction of Justice, a 5-year felony
2. Aggravated Assault, a 1-year misdemeanor

Magistrate Zemke set a personal bond of $10,000 for Gallus. He is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference before 41B District Court Judge Carrie L. Fuca on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. 

In a written statement provided to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, Macomb County Sheriff Wickersham stated, “We are aware of the charges filed against one of our Corrections Deputies. The Sheriff’s Office holds all personnel to the highest professional and ethical standards, especially regarding the use of force. While the legal process unfolds, we remain committed to transparency, accountability, and maintaining the public’s trust.” 

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido stated, “I want to be clear: in Macomb County, everyone is treated the same under the law. No one is above the law, regardless of profession or position. At the same time, every individual is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. We must allow the justice system to run its course.”
