Lexington man bound over on felonious assault charge, prosecutors succeed in adding charge

Mount Clemens, Mich. – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Aaron Hildreth, 45, of Lexington, Mich., was bound over on one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and an added count of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm stemming from his resistance to being taken into custody by bail bond agents at a Marathon gas station at Gratiot Avenue and 12 Mile Road in Roseville, Mich.

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, a Preliminary Exam was held for Hildreth before Judge Kathleen E. Tocco at the 39th District Court in Roseville, Mich. At the conclusion of the exam, Judge Tocco bound Hildreth over on the Assault with a Dangerous Weapon count, a 4-year felony, and agreed with Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Nathan Wilson that the evidence presented was sufficient to add a count of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. APA Wilson, assisted by Prosecutor’s Office Law Intern Christian Karim, represented the People at the Exam. 

Hildreth will be arraigned before Judge Matthew P. Sabaugh of the Macomb County Circuit Court on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. 

“When individuals choose actions that put others in danger, they must face the consequences. My office remains committed to enforcing the law, seeking accountability, and keeping our communities safe,” stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The charges against Hildreth stem from June 18, 2026, when bail bond agents attempted to take him into custody after he allegedly failed to comply with the conditions of his bond. It is alleged that Hildreth attempted to flee in his vehicle and crashed into an agent’s vehicle as the agent was attempting to exit it. The agent became pinned between the two vehicles and the agent’s open vehicle door. It is further alleged that Hildreth struck the agent’s vehicle a second time, at which point another agent broke out the driver’s-side window of Hildreth’s vehicle and discharged a firearm. Hildreth was struck in the arm.

Hildreth is in custody at the Macomb County Jail on a $250,000 cash/surety only bond.
