Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – Peter J. Lucido announced that four juveniles were charged after an event on Monday, April 6, 2026, when Warren police pursued a 2017 Hyundai Elantra that was disregarding traffic signals and speeding. The vehicle entered the Macomb Community College campus on Twelve Mile Road in Warren, MI where the occupants disbursed and disregarded commands to stop. It is alleged that a 16-year-old juvenile was the driver and three juveniles, ages 15, 16, and 17, were passengers.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the 16-year-old alleged driver waived his Preliminary Exam before Juvenile Court Referee Anthony Scotta. The juvenile is charged with the following:

  • Police Officer – Fleeing – Third Degree – Vehicle Code, a 5-year felony
  • Stolen Property – Receiving and Concealing – Motor Vehicle, a 5-year felony
  • Police Officer – Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing, a 2-year felony
  • Operating – No License/Multiple Licenses, a 90-day misdemeanor

The juvenile was released on a personal bond and placed on house arrest with orders to not operate a motor vehicle or have contact with co-defendants. A hearing before Referee Gibbs is scheduled at the Macomb County Juvenile Court on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

The three other juveniles are charged with Police Officer – Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing, a 2-year felony. As of today’s date, no proceedings have taken place.

“It is incredibly fortunate that no one was injured when the driver allegedly fled from police. I cannot stress strongly enough that our young people must carefully consider the decisions they make and the consequences that inevitably follow,” said Peter J. Lucido.
