Juvenile charged as adult, related to alleged Sterling Heights shooting

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Aiden Hadley, a 17-year-old juvenile from Macomb Township, was arraigned as an adult on charges in connection with an alleged shooting which took place in a parking lot near 18 Mile and Dequindre Rd. The lot is located near Edge Fitness, which was closed at the time and is not connected to the alleged incident.

It is alleged that on Sunday, March 15, 2026, a group of teens and young adults gathered in the parking lot in expectation of a pre-planned fight. It is alleged that Hadley fired shots from a Ford F150 allegedly driven by 18-year-old Joseph Maroof of West Bloomfield, who was arraigned on March 18, 2026. A minor suffered a non-lethal injury when he was hit by a bullet in his foot.

After carefully examining all the available evidence including the severity of the allegations, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido is charging Hadley as adult.

On Monday, March 23, 2026, Hadley was arraigned before Magistrate Jean M. Cloud at the 41A District Court in Sterling Heights, MI.

Hadley was charged with the following:

Count 1:  Assault with Intent to Murder, a felony punishable by life or any term of years

Count 2:  Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony consecutive to main charge

Count 3: Weapons – Firearms – Discharge from a Vehicle Causing Injury, a 15-year felony

Count 4:  Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony consecutive to main charge

Magistrate Cloud set bond for Hadley at $250,000 cash/surety only. Hadley was ordered to have no contact with the Complaining Victim. If released, he must wear a steel cuff GPS tether and must not possess any firearms.

Hadley is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. and a Preliminary Exam on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Both will be held before Judge Annemarie M. Lepore at the 41A District Court in Sterling Heights, MI.

“Charging a juvenile as an adult is not a decision I make lightly, but the seriousness of some offenses demands a response that reflects the impact on victims and the community. We remain committed to balancing public safety with fairness, ensuring each case is evaluated on its specific facts and circumstances,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido following the arraignment.
