Juvenile arraigned as adult on carjacking charge, two others released pending further investigation

Press Release

Mt. Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that, after a thorough review of all available evidence and consideration of the severity of the allegations, 15-year-old Jeremiah Collins of Roseville has been arraigned as an adult on felony charges stemming from an alleged carjacking that occurred in the parking lot of an Applebee’s restaurant in Roseville, MI, on November 24, 2025. Two other juveniles, ages 14 and 16, who were detained following the incident, have been released pending further investigation.

It is alleged that on November 24, 2025, Collins forcibly took a woman’s 2016 Jeep Patriot in the Applebee’s parking lot. The victim immediately contacted the Roseville Police Department, prompting officers to pursue the stolen vehicle. Collins allegedly continued fleeing until he crashed the Jeep on Gratiot.

On Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, Collins was arraigned before visiting Judge Denis LeDuc in the 39th District Court in Roseville, MI on the following charges:

Collins will remain in the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center if bond is not posted.

Collins is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. and a Preliminary Exam on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., both before Judge Joseph F. Boedeker in the 39th District Court in Roseville, MI.

"Charging a juvenile as an adult is never an easy decision. It is a decision we approach with the utmost seriousness and careful consideration. While our priority is always rehabilitation and the best interest of young people, there are circumstances making it necessary to hold them accountable as adults. This step is not taken lightly, but it is sometimes essential to ensure justice and public safety," stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
