Jury convicts Clinton Township woman of Assault with Intent to Murder

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI - Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Jennifer Hayes, a 29-year-old resident of Clinton Township, was convicted by a jury of Assault with Intent to Murder for stabbing her boyfriend multiple times on July 3, 2024.

On Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, following a five-and-a-half-day jury trial led by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Maria Panchenko and Carrie Seward, a jury convicted Hayes of a single count of Assault with Intent to Murder. The verdict was delivered after fewer than five hours of deliberation. Hayes now faces a potential sentence ranging from any term of years up to life in prison.

Hayes was remanded to the custody of the Macomb County Jail pending sentencing, which is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 8, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. before Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer M. Faunce.

The conviction stems from a July 3, 2024 incident in which Hayes stabbed her boyfriend multiple times at his Clinton Township residence. The victim suffered 14 stab wounds, including one in the side of his neck. He survived and later recovered from his injuries.

“I thank the jury for their dedication and careful attention throughout a lengthy trial involving extensive testimony and evidence. Our justice system relies on citizens who are willing to fulfill their civic duty in cases like this,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s office represents the people. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
