Illinois men bound over on felony murder charges

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 31-year-old Tyran Pruitte, and 36-year-old Jourdan Armstrong, both of Joliet, IL, were bound over on multiple felony charges including Felony Murder and Armed Robbery.

On Friday, June 5, 2026, a Preliminary Exam was held for Pruitte and Armstrong before visiting Judge Ted Metry in the 37th District Court in Warren, MI. At the conclusion of the Exam, Judge Metry bound over Pruitte and Armstrong on the following charges:

• Two counts – Homicide – Felony Murder, a felony punishable by life without parole
• Robbery Armed, a felony punishable by life or any term of years
• Assault with Intent to Murder - a felony punishable by life or any term of years 
• Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge

Armstrong faces an additional charge of:

• Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony

As to both defendants, one charge of Felony Firearm was added at the Preliminary Exam and Judge Metry dismissed one count of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. 

Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Dale VandeVrede and Derek Boedeker conducted the Exam on behalf of the People.

A third defendant, Daeviontae Pruitte, is incarcerated in Illinois. Judge Metry adjourned his case while prosecutors work to secure his appearance in Michigan. 

It is alleged that on December 27, 2024, Armstrong, Pruitte and Pruitte committed an armed robbery at a house in Warren, MI. During the robbery, two men were killed: Trey Bennett, 24-years-old, and Andrew McHenry, 36-years-old, both of Newark, OH. 

Pruitte and Armstrong are scheduled for Arraignment at the Macomb County Circuit Court on Monday, June 22, 2026, with the judge to be determined. The two men were denied bond at the District Court Arraignment and remain in custody at the Macomb County Jail. 

"Today's bind-over is an important step toward justice. The defendants now face two felony murder charges and a host of other serious felony offenses. We will continue to aggressively prosecute this case and seek accountability for the harm that was done. Justice will be enforced, and those responsible will answer for their actions," stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
