Four juveniles charged with inciting a riot, malicious destruction of property

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against four juveniles after an incident at the Michigan Youth Treatment Center in Mount Clemens, MI.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Michigan State Troopers were dispatched to the Center in response to a call for several disorderly juveniles.

After a thorough and complete review of the evidence, three juveniles are charged with the following:

  • Inciting a Riot, a 10-year felony, and
  • Malicious Destruction of a Building $1,000 or More but Less Than $20,000, a 5-year felony.

Those three juvenile cases have been transferred to other counties because the juveniles reside in those jurisdictions.

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, a Preliminary Hearing was held for the remaining juvenile, a 16-year-old Macomb County resident.

The juvenile is charged with:

  • Inciting a Riot, a 10-year felony, and
  • Malicious Destruction of a Building $200 or More but Less Than $1,000, a 1-year misdemeanor.

Referee George Keller released the juvenile to the secure residential facility of the MI Youth Treatment Center. A Pretrial is scheduled before Referee Anthony Scotta at the Macomb County Juvenile Court on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10 a.m.

“Violent disruption inside a juvenile treatment facility puts every person in that building at risk, the youth housed there, the staff responsible for their care, and the professionals working to keep the environment safe. When chaos replaces structure, it creates conditions where people can be seriously hurt and critical safety systems break down. Facilities like this must operate with clear rules and accountability,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All individuals who are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
