Mt. Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 52-year-old Thomas Edward Tackett, of Fort Gratiot, MI, was arraigned on 13 charges related to his alleged crime spree through Harrison Township and St. Clair Shores, MI on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025.
It is alleged that on Monday, October 6, 2025, in Harrison Township and St. Clair Shores, Tackett engaged in a series of violent and reckless acts resulting in multiple felony charges. He faces five counts of home invasion, along with other serious charges including of carjacking, assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing and eluding police, and reckless driving.
It is alleged that Tackett broke into five homes — four while the occupants were present — two in St. Clair Shores and two in Harrison Township, with a fifth unoccupied residence in Harrison Township. He is also accused of carjacking a man in Harrison Township, driving through and damaging the St. Clair Shores Golf Course, traveling the wrong way on I-94, causing property damage by driving through a homeowner’s backyard, and driving at dangerously high speeds.
Tackett allegedly stabbed a homeowner with a fork and resisted arrest. He eventually abandoned a vehicle and was taken into custody after a foot chase in Harrison Township.
On Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, Tackett was arraigned before Magistrate Ryan Zemke in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township, MI. Tackett was arraigned on the following charges:

4 COUNTS: FIRST-DEGREE HOME INVASION, A 20-YEAR FELONY
1 COUNT: SECOND-DEGREE HOME INVASION, A 15-YEAR FELONY
1 COUNT: POLICE OFFICER – FLEEING – THIRD DEGREE – VEHICLE CODE, A 5-YEAR FELONY
1 COUNT: MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PERSONAL PROPERTY, A 5-YEAR FELONY
1 COUNT: MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF A BUILDING, A 5-YEAR FELONY
1 COUNT: ASSAULT WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON, A 4-YEAR FELONY
1 COUNT: POLICE OFFICER – ASSAULTING/RESISTING/OBSTRUCTING, A 2-YEAR FELONY
1 COUNT: OPERATING – LICENSE SUSPENDED, REVOKED, DENIED, A 93-DAY MISDEMEANOR
1 COUNT: DRIVING - RECKLESS, A 93-DAY MISDEMEANOR
Each of the eleven felony charges contains A HABITUAL OFFENDER – FOURTH OFFENSE NOTICE, which requires a mandatory 25-year prison sentence and the possibility of life imprisonment if convicted of the related felony.
Magistrate Zemke denied Tackett bond.
Tackett is scheduled to appear before 41B District Court Judge Jacob Femminineo for a Probable Cause Conference on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.
