Father arraigned on charges of owing over $58,000 in back child support

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI - Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Ryan Bauser, a 36-year-old St. Clair Shores man, was arraigned on a charge of failing to pay child support after allegedly accruing an arrearage of over $58,000.

On October 12, 2011, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mary A. Chrzanowski ordered Bauser to pay child support. Over the years, the payment amount was occasionally modified with the last change being effective August 14, 2024. Despite the modifications, Bauser allegedly owes back child support in the amount of $58,455. He has had eight (8) Show Cause Hearings and seven (7) prior Bench Warrants.

After exhausting all enforcement options and determining Bauser has the ability to pay, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Bauser with failure to pay child support, a felony, which carries a potential penalty of up to four (4) years in prison. He also has a habitual offender - second offense notice, which is an aggravating sentencing factor.

This is the maximum charge available under the law based on the evidence to date.

On Friday, July 18, 2025, Bauser was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Ryan Zemke, who set bond at $14,613 cash only. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Monday, July 28, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. before 41B District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido.

“Parents have a legal and moral responsibility to support their children, and our office will not tolerate those who shirk that duty. We take child support enforcement seriously because it directly impacts the well-being of children of Macomb County. When someone deliberately avoids their obligations, they not only break the law, but they also fail the very people who rely on them the most,” said Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Family Division of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office oversees felony nonsupport cases where arrears exceed $5,000, payments have not been made for three consecutive months, and there is evidence that the noncustodial parent has the financial means to pay. The division’s primary goal is to secure financial support for children while ensuring that justice is served.
