Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that the preliminary exam dates are set for the ex-boyfriend of a missing Warren woman.
Ashley Lashay Elkins disappeared on Thursday, January 2, 2025 after allegedly going to Deandre Howard Booker’s residence in Roseville. It is alleged that 32-year-old Booker killed Elkins while she was at his apartment and disposed of her body.
Booker is charged with First-Degree Premeditated Murder, a life without parole felony; Tampering with Evidence, 10-year felony; Disinterment or Mutilation of a Dead Body, 10-year felony; and Concealing the Death of an Individual, a 5-year felony.
In a related case, Booker is charged with Lying to a Police Officer in a Violent Crime Investigation, a 4-year felony.
These are the maximum charges available under the law based on the evidence to date.
The Preliminary Exam hearing for both cases is set to take place in the Roseville 39th District Court before Judge Joseph F. Boedeker on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., and Friday, August 8, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Carmen DeFranco and Carrie Seward will represent the People.
“The charges in this case are as serious as they come. We believe the evidence clearly supports the allegation that she was murdered and discarded without dignity. We are committed to seeking justice for her and her loved ones. The preliminary examination will be an important step in that process,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
Booker is held in the Macomb County Jail without bond.
