Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Deandre Booker, a 33-year-old Roseville man, was arraigned today in Macomb County Circuit Court on all charges related to the alleged murder of his former girlfriend, Ashley Lashay Elkins, who disappeared on Thursday, January 2, 2025. It is alleged that Booker killed Elkins while she was at his apartment in Roseville and disposed of her body.
On Thursday, January 22, 2026, Booker was arraigned before Judge Joseph Toia in the Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens, MI. He stood mute and the court entered a Not Guilty plea on his behalf. A Pretrial Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Toia. He is being held in the Macomb County Jail without bond.
Booker is charged with the following:
- First-Degree Premeditated Murder, a felony punishable by life without parole;
- Tampering with Evidence, a 10-year felony;
- Disinterment or Mutilation of a Dead Body, a 10-year felony;
- Concealing the Death of an Individual, a 5-year felony; and, from a related case,
- Lying to a Police Officer in a Violent Crime Investigation, a 4-year felony.
“With today’s circuit court arraignment, the case is now moving forward to trial. We remain committed to pursuing the facts and holding the defendant accountable through the legal process, as we continue working toward justice for the victim and her family,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
