Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Nico Trevon Nettles, a 27-year-old Eastpointe resident, pled no contest to a Second-Degree Murder charge in connection with his killing of a 28-year-old Detroit man, Rashid Aliakbar, at a house in Eastpointe in May of 2025.
On Monday, April 6, 2026, at a Pretrial Conference before Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer M. Faunce, Nettle’s pled no contest as charged. The Pretrial Conference was conducted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Stone.
Nettle’s will be sentenced before Judge Faunce on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at the Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens, MI.
It is alleged that on May 12, 2025, Nettles stabbed Aliakbar in the upper chest with a knife during an altercation that took place at the Eastpointe residence. Police responded to reports of a stabbing, and immediately began lifesaving measures on the victim. Eastpointe Fire and Rescue, and MedStar, arrived, tended to the victim and transported him to Ascension St. John’s Hospital in Detroit where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido commented on the matter: “While today’s plea marks a step toward resolution, it does not change the tragic reality that a young man has lost his life. In the wake of this unjustified violence, two young lives—and the families who loved them—have been irrevocably impacted. Our office remains steadfast in its commitment to pursuing justice for victims and holding those responsible fully accountable.”
