Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Nico Trevon Nettles, a 27-year-old Eastpointe resident, was bound over to circuit court on a Second-Degree Murder charge in connection with his alleged killing of a 28-year-old Detroit man, Rashid Aliakbar, at a house in Eastpointe in May of this year.
On Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, after Nettles’ Preliminary Exam, 38th District Court Judge Kathleen G. Galen ruled that there is enough evidence to move forward with a trial on a charge of Second-Degree Murder. Nettle’s Preliminary Exam was conducted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Brian Fox.
Nettle’s next court date will be an arraignment before Judge Jennifer M. Faunce on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in the Macomb County Circuit Court, Mount Clemens, MI.
Nettles remains in custody at the Macomb County Jail with a bond set at $2 million cash/surety.
It is alleged that on May 12, 2025, Nettles stabbed Aliakbar in the upper chest with a knife during an altercation that took place at the Eastpointe residence. Police responded to reports of a stabbing, and immediately began lifesaving measures on the victim. Eastpointe Fire and Rescue, and MedStar, arrived, tended to the victim and transported him to Ascension St. John’s Hospital in Detroit where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido commented on the matter: “No disagreement—no matter how personal or intense—should ever end in violence. Disagreements can and should be settled with words, through dialogue or lawful channels. A man is dead and nothing can change that. Our office will seek justice for the victim and his family to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s office represents the people. We are committed to following the laws of the State of Michigan and achieving justice with integrity. All defendants accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
