Dearborn Heights woman charged after alleged hit and run of pedestrian

Press Release

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Jelnar Firas Kaddoura, 32, of Dearborn Heights, was arraigned on charges stemming from an alleged hit and run of a pedestrian.

It is alleged that on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Eastpointe Police responded to a pedestrian -vehicle accident. The victim was found lying in the roadway with serious injuries to the head and chest. The victim reported having been struck by a white pickup truck. Minutes prior to the incident, a police officer had allegedly conducted a stop of a white pickup truck. Subsequent investigation determined that the truck allegedly sustained front-end damage after that initial stop. It is alleged that Kaddoura was the driver of the pickup truck that struck the victim and then fled the scene.

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, Kaddoura was arraigned before Magistrate Mark Makowski in the 38th District Court in Eastpointe, MI. Kaddoura is charged with the following offenses:

  • Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death, a 5-year felony
  • Failure to Report an Accident, a 90-day misdemeanor

Kaddoura also has a Habitual Offender – Second Offense Notice, an aggravating sentencing factor.

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented.

Magistrate Makowski set Kaddoura’s bond at $50,000 cash/surety only. If Kaddoura makes bond, she must be outfitted with a GPS tether and sign up for Soberlink prior to release. She will also subject to home confinement, ordered to not consume drugs or alcohol, and must not contact the victim.

Kaddoura is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. and a Preliminary Exam on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. before Judge Kathleen G. Galen at the 38th District Court in Eastpointe, MI.

“The defendant is alleged to have struck an individual with her vehicle and then left the scene, failing to summon emergency assistance. Drivers have a clear legal obligation to stop, render reasonable aid, and contact authorities when a crash causes injury. Our office takes this duty seriously and will pursue these charges as the case moves forward through the court process,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
