Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that, at the request of defense counsel, the court ordered 47-year-old Jennifer Roe of Clinton Township to receive a mental health evaluation to determine competency. Roe is facing felony charges after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen U-Haul truck.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at a Probable Cause Conference before Judge Jacob Femminineo, Jr. at the 41B District Court in Clinton Township, MI, Roe’s defense counsel requested an evaluation for competency. The court granted the request and set a date of July 27, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. to review the evaluation results and status of the case.
The defense also requested a reduction in bond, which is set at $100,000 cash or surety only. At the objection of the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Hall, the court denied modifying bond.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido stated, “The court-ordered competency evaluation is a critical step in ensuring the integrity of the judicial process. Until that evaluation is completed, the case cannot proceed further. My office remains committed to following the law, protecting due process, and pursuing justice on behalf of the community.”
Roe is charged with the following offenses:
- Police Officer – Fleeing – Third Degree – Vehicle Code, a 5-year felony
- Stolen Property – Receiving and Concealing – Motor Vehicle, a 5-year felony
- Driving – Reckless, a 93-day misdemeanor.
These are the maximum charges available under the law based on the evidence presented to date.
It is alleged that on Thursday, May 28, 2026, a stolen Dodge U-Haul van was detected by FLOCK cameras near 15 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop using lights and sirens. Roe initially stopped but then allegedly fled from police.
After approximately 20 minutes, officers terminated the pursuit. Unmarked police vehicles maintained visual surveillance of the U-Haul. During the incident, Roe allegedly sped through traffic and disregarded multiple traffic signals. Roe allegedly stopped after crashing into another vehicle near Hall Road and Garfield Road.
