Clinton Township man bound over as charged, including Second-Degree Murder

Mount Clemens, Mich. - Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced 23-year-old Jeremiah Broady, of Clinton Township, Michigan, was bound over as charged on six felonies, including Second-Degree Murder, stemming from an alleged shooting which resulted in the death of 21-year-old Mya Selina Hicks of Clinton Township. 

It is alleged that on Friday, January 30, 2026, Broady was with the victim at her residence when he allegedly shot her multiple times with a handgun. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene upon the arrival of law enforcement.

On Friday, August  14, 2026, a Preliminary Exam was held for Broady before Judge Jacob Femminineo, Jr. in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township, Michigan. At the conclusion of the Exam, Judge Femminineo bound Broady over as charged on the following counts:

Count 1: Murder – Second-Degree, a felony punishable by life or any term of years

Count 2: Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge

Count 3: Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony

Count 4: Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge

Count 5: Weapons – Ammunition – Possession by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony

Count 6: Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge.

These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.

The Preliminary Exam was conducted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Carrie Seward and Julianne Beslic.

“The loss of a life can never be compensated through a criminal trial but seeking justice is what we can do for the victim and her loved ones,” stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Today’s bind-over brings this case one step closer to accountability. My office will continue to pursue this matter and seek justice for the victim.”

Broady is scheduled to be arraigned before Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Matthew P. Sabaugh on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. 

Broady remains in custody at the Macomb County Jail on a $1 million bond.
