Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 50-year-old Curtis Eason, of Clinton Township, MI, was arraigned on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death in connection with a fatal pedestrian incident.
It is alleged that on Friday, March 27, 2026, while driving westbound on Elizabeth Road approaching Groesbeck Highway in Clinton Township, Eason entered a turn lane prematurely and struck a pedestrian, identified as Michael O’Brien, 34, of Mount Clemens, Michigan. Personnel from Clinton Township Fire Department and Medstar Ambulance rendered lifesaving aid at the scene. The victim was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. It is further alleged that Eason was legally intoxicated at the time of the incident.
On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Eason was arraigned before Magistrate Ryan Zemke in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township, MI. Eason was arraigned on the following charge:
- Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death, a 15-year felony
Magistrate Zemke set Eason’s bond at $100,000 cash/surety/10%. If released, he must wear a GPS alcohol tether.
Eason is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference before Judge Sebastian Lucido at the 41B District Court on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
