The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Family Division is funded through a federal grant and county government. The division has recovered over $1.2 million in owed child support this calendar year alone. In the last 5 years, over $3 million has been collected.

In addition to establishing paternity and initial child support orders for parents, the division investigates and prosecutes felony nonsupport cases when the noncustodial parent owes more than $5,000 in support. To be considered for review, there must be an arrearage of more than $5,000, failure to pay for three consecutive months, the noncustodial parent has the ability to pay the court ordered child support, and the noncustodial parent lives in Michigan. The goal of this prosecution is to ensure that children are financially supported by both parents and to ensure that justice is ensured according to the law.

To start a child support case, call (866) 540-0008.

If you are owed more than $5,000 in support, call (586) 493-4488.

If you owe and want to get back on track to avoid prosecution, call (586) 493-4488.

The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
