Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Sincere Desire Powell, 47, of Athens, GA, was arraigned on charges of bank robbery and receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle.
It is alleged that on Monday, June 15, 2026, Powell entered a Comerica Bank in Sterling Heights while wearing a wig, sunglasses, a medical mask, and gloves. It is alleged that Powell presented a note demanding that large-denomination bills be placed into a bag she was carrying and threatened to shoot if her demands were not met.
After leaving the bank, Powell allegedly fled in a white Jeep that had been reported stolen from Troy on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Law enforcement officers later located the vehicle in a parking lot in Warren. Powell was subsequently located at a nearby hotel and taken into custody.
Investigators allegedly recovered from the Jeep items believed to have been worn during the robbery. Additional evidence, including cash, was recovered from the hotel room and is alleged to connect Powell to the bank robbery.
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Powell was arraigned before Magistrate Jean M. Cloud in the 41A District Court in Sterling Heights, MI. Powell is charged with the following offenses:
- Bank Robbery – a felony punishable by life or any term of years
- Stolen Property – Receiving and Concealing – Motor Vehicle, a 5-year felony
These are the maximum charges available under the law based on the evidence presented to date.
"Bank robbery is an extremely dangerous crime because the act itself creates a substantial risk of physical and psychological harm to many people. My office is committed to enforcing the law, protecting public safety, and ensuring that those accused of violent crimes are held accountable,” stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
Magistrate Cloud set Powell’s bond at $500,000 cash or surety. Powell must wear a GPS tether if she is able to post bond.
Powell is scheduled to appear at a Probable Cause Conference before Judge Annemarie M. Lepore at the 41A District Court on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
