Manistee Man Arraigned for Beating His Puppy
Mount Clemens, MI - A 25-year-old man was arraigned in connection with seriously injuring his puppy.

Authorities allege that on Monday, February 3, 2025, Corbin Miller repeatedly struck his puppy with a cylindrical item inside a camper van parked at Hall Rd. and Romeo Plank Rd. Macomb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an animal abuse complaint and attempted to speak with Miller, but he refused to cooperate. Before entering the camper, deputies observed “Maeby,” the 3-month-old German pointer mix with visible injuries. She sustained a skull fracture, a pelvic girdle fracture, and a femur fracture. As of this morning, the puppy was stable.
Miller was charged with Third Degree Killing / Torturing an Animal, a four-year felony, and two counts of Assaulting / Resisting / Obstructing a Police officer, two-year felonies. He was arraigned in 41A Shelby Township District Court where Magistrate James VerPloeg set bond at $100,000 cash/surety. If released on bond, Miller is to have no contact with animals, no drugs or alcohol, no weapons, and wear a GPS tether. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 9:00 am before District Court Judge Stephen Sierawski.
“The cruelty inflicted on innocent animals is deeply disturbing. I encourage everyone who supports stronger penalties for animal abuse to contact their state legislators and advocate for tougher laws that hold offenders fully accountable,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All those accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
