Man Guilty for Killing Two in M-53 Traffic Incident

Westland resident Jose Eugeno Medina-Hernandez was found guilty on all charges by a Macomb County jury for a traffic incident that killed two after a jury trial by Assistant Prosecutors Mark Stepek and Christopher Urban in Shelby Township District Court.

Man Guilty for Killing Two in M-53 Traffic Incident

Mount Clemens, MI -  Westland resident Jose Eugeno Medina-Hernandez was found guilty on all charges by a Macomb County jury for a traffic incident that killed two after a jury trial by Assistant Prosecutors Mark Stepek and Christopher Urban in Shelby Township District Court.

On Thursday, June 6, 2024, Jose Medina-Hernandez, age 33, was driving a box truck southbound on M-53 in Shelby Township when he rear ended a Buick Verano which triggered a chain reaction involving two other vehicles.  The Buick occupants, 88-year-old Nancy Richmond and 63-year-old Crystal Brunn were killed in the crash.  Medina-Hernandez was charged with two counts of Moving Violation Causing Death, one year misdemeanors. 

“Thank you to the Macomb County jury who delivered justice for the families who lost their loved ones in this tragic and preventable crash. Our hearts remain with the victims’ families as they continue to heal from this devastating loss," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
