Man Arraigned for Assault and Holding Toddler Hostage at Gunpoint in Clinton Township

Dalvin Devonte Brooks, age 30, was arraigned today in 41B Clinton Township District Court in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident.

Man Arraigned for Assault and Holding Toddler Hostage at Gunpoint in Clinton Township

Mount Clemens, MI -  Dalvin Devonte Brooks, age 30, was arraigned today in 41B Clinton Township District Court in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident.

It is alleged that on Sunday, January 12, 2025, Brooks physically assaulted and pointed a gun at the mother of his child.  Brooks then picked up their two year old son and held him at gunpoint.  When Clinton Township Police Officers arrived, Brooks barricaded himself in a bedroom of the apartment, using his two year old son as a human shield and pointing his gun at officers.  Brooks eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

Brooks was charged with:
Count One:  Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four year felony
Count Two:  Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony
Count Three:  Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four year felony
Count Four:  Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony
Count Five:  Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four year felony
Count Six:  Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony
Count Seven:  Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four year felony
Count Eight:  Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony
Count Nine:  Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four year felony
Count 10:  Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony
Count 11:  Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four year felony
Count 12:  Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony
Count 13:  Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four year felony
Count 14:  Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony
Count 15:  Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, a five year felony
Count 16:  Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony
Count 17:  4th Degree Child Abuse, a one year misdemeanor
Count 18:  Domestic Violence, a 93-day misdemeanor

Brooks is also charged as a habitual fourth offender.  He was arraigned in 41B Clinton Township District Court by Magistrate Ryan Zemke where bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety only.  If bond is posted Brooks is to wear a steel cuff GPS tether and have no contact with any victims. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025 at 1:00 pm in front of District Court Judge Carrie Fuca.

Such acts of violence are intolerable, and we will pursue justice to the fullest extent of the law to protect these victims and prevent further harm," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
