Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office Encourages Responsible Behavior on Angel’s Night and a Safe, Happy “Halloweek”
Macomb County, MI - As the Halloween season approaches, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office reminds residents to celebrate safely and responsibly during “Halloweek,” especially on the eve of Halloween, commonly known as Angel’s Night.
Angel’s Night, observed on October 30, has historically been a night of mischief in many communities. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office encourages all residents to work together to ensure it remains a night of safety, cooperation, and community spirit.
“While Halloween is a time for fun, costumes, and treats, it’s important to remember that we all have a role to play in keeping our community safe,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “On Angel’s Night, we encourage everyone to engage in positive, family-friendly activities and to be vigilant for any suspicious behavior. With everyone’s participation, we can make this ‘Halloweek’ enjoyable and safe for all.”
It is a crime to willfully and maliciously damage another person’s property. Depending on the amount of damage, it can even be a felony.
To promote safety, the Prosecutor’s Office recommends the following:
- Keep a Watchful Eye: Neighbors are encouraged to look out for each other, report any unusual activity, and contact local law enforcement if necessary.
- Supervise Youth: Parents should accompany younger children during trick-or-treating or community activities, ensuring they know the safety rules and remain with trusted adults.
- Respect Property: Acts of vandalism, no matter how minor, will be treated seriously. Let’s respect the property of others and discourage pranks that can cause damage or harm.
- Drive Safely: Increased foot traffic is expected during Halloween celebrations. Drivers should exercise extra caution, particularly in residential areas, and obey speed limits to ensure the safety of trick-or-treaters.
- Community Engagement: Participate in local Halloween events or volunteer for neighborhood patrols, creating a fun and secure environment for all.
Let’s come together to create a safe and joyful environment for all residents, especially our children, who look forward to this festive season. Remember, every small action counts—whether it’s keeping an eye out for your neighbor or simply spreading kindness through your Halloween festivities. Together, we can ensure that this Halloweek is a time of happiness and security, marking the beginning of a wonderful holiday season. Have a safe and memorable Halloween!
