Mount Clemens, MI - Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido is urging seniors to stay alert to the rise in scams targeting them. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has established a dedicated senior crime unit to safeguard older adults, and Prosecutor Lucido regularly hosts presentations aimed at educating seniors on how to avoid falling victim to scams.

To further support senior citizens, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office offers an informational booklet titled “S.C.A.M.S. – Stopping Crimes Against Macomb Seniors.” This resource covers common scams that often target seniors, such as identity theft, telemarketing fraud, internet fraud, home improvement fraud, and caregiver fraud. The goal is to empower and protect vulnerable seniors from being exploited by criminals. Prosecutor Lucido is committed to ensuring the aging population has access to vital information to help them stay safe. Seniors are encouraged to never share personal information over the phone or via email with unfamiliar individuals.

“Protecting our seniors isn’t just a duty—it’s a responsibility. I want to ensure Macomb County seniors have the knowledge they need to defend themselves against scams,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office is also conducting free Senior SCAMS presentations throughout the county. These presentations feature the booklet and an in-depth discussion on scams targeting seniors in the area.
