Lucido Announces 2025 Vision for Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office
Macomb County, MI — Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido shared his vision for the next four years to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office staff, reaffirming his commitment to integrity, innovation, and justice. He emphasized the essential role each member of the office plays in achieving these goals.
“As we embark on this new term together, I want to take a moment to reflect on the vital role each of you plays in upholding justice, serving the community, and protecting the people of Macomb County,” said Lucido. “I am writing to share our vision for the year ahead and the principles that will guide us as we continue to transform this office into a model of integrity, efficiency, and service.”
Lucido laid out seven key priorities for his second term:
- We will Act with Integrity to Hold Criminals Accountable: Every case, every motion, and every interaction will be above reproach. The ends do not justify the means—our work will always be done the right way, for the right reasons.
- We will Focus on Juvenile Justice: Reducing juvenile recidivism is not just about justice—it is about giving our youth a second chance to contribute positively to society.
- We will Fight to Expand Access to Specialized Services: Diversion programs, mental health services and specialty treatment courts for non-violent offenders have proven their value in addressing underlying factors in criminal behavior. We will continue to promote these programs while advocating for the resources necessary to sustain and expand them.
- We will be Transparent: Justice must not only be done, but it must also be seen to be done. Beyond the courtroom, we will expand our community outreach work. This also means promoting openness in plea dispositions, improving outreach to crime victims in multiple languages, and maintaining clear communication with law enforcement and the community.
- We will Support Crime Victims: Every victim deserves dignity, compassion, and our support. The improvements we’ve made in victim services must continue to evolve and expand.
- We will Use Technology to Make Justice More Efficient: It’s been said that justice delayed is justice denied. But a corollary to that is, efficiency is justice served. We will continue to make our justice system more efficient through technology interfaces with police and courts, and by refining our case management and digital evidence systems.
- We will Invest in our People: we will enhance our training opportunities for assistant prosecutors, ensuring opportunities for specialized training to stay ahead of evolving challenges. And we will continue our successful college and law school internship program, inspiring the next generation of justice advocates.
While leading the office, Lucido is also seeking input from assistant prosecutors and staff. “I value your perspectives and welcome your suggestions for how we can move this office forward. Whether it’s an innovative approach to a challenge, a refinement of our processes, or new ways to better serve our community, your input is essential,” he said. His message to his team was clear: their collective effort will determine the office’s success in becoming a model for justice in Michigan and beyond.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, which handles thousands of cases each year, has undergone significant reforms under Lucido’s leadership, including modernized digital systems, improved victim services, strengthened child support enforcement and streamlined processes for warrant approvals.
