Juvenile Arraigned in Connection with Shooting at Veterans Park in Warren, Two Men Already Arraigned
Mount Clemens, MI - A 16-year-old juvenile was arraigned in connection with a shooting at Veterans Park in Warren.
It is alleged that on Saturday, August 31, 2024, Robert Johnson and a 16-year-old male juvenile from Macomb, set up a drug deal to buy drugs from Illya Green Jr. at Veterans Park. During the transaction, Johnson and the juvenile produced handguns and took the drugs from Green. Green in turn fired multiple shots at the robbers, hitting the juvenile. The juvenile is recovering from his injuries.
"This alleged reckless behavior put the lives of everyone in the park at serious risk. Given the severity of the offenses, the juvenile involved will be tried as an adult to ensure full accountability for these dangerous and violent actions. In Macomb County, if a juvenile commits an adult crime, they will face adult charges," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The 16-year-old juvenile was charged with Armed Robbery, a up to life felony, Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, up to life felony, and Carrying a Concealed Firearm, a five year felony. He was arraigned in 37th Warren District Court where visiting Judge Denis LeDuc set bond at $500,000 cash/surety. If released the juvenile is to wear a GPS tether and have no contact with any crime witnesses or co-defendants.
A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 8:45am and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 8:45am by Warren District Court Judge Michael Chupa.
Robert Johnson, age 18, and Illya Green, Jr., age 22, were arraigned on Thursday, September 5, 2024 on multiple charges in connection with the same incident.
