Hazel Park Man Arraigned for Murder in Gas Station Parking Lot Shooting in Warren
Mount Clemens, MI - A 45-year old man was arraigned in connection with a shooting at a Warren Gas Station at Dequindre Rd. and 9 Mile Road.
On Saturday, December 21, 2024 it is alleged that Al Curtis Williams entered a Shell Gas Station and got into a verbal argument with the victim, 38-year old Brandon Zaner. Williams left the gas station in his vehicle. Zaner exited the gas station and walked to the back of the parking lot drinking coffee and looking at his phone. Williams returned to the gas station with a handgun and approached Zaner. They got into a physical altercation resulting in Williams shooting Zaner once in the chest. Zaner died from his injuries.
Williams was charged with the following:
- Count One: Second Degree Murder, a life felony
- Count Two: Carrying Concealed Weapon, a five year felony
- Count Three: Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four year felony
- Count Four: Felony Firearm, a two year felony
- Count Five: Felony Firearm, a two year felony
Williams was arraigned in 37th Warren District Court where visiting Judge David Draper denied bond and the defendant is to have no contact with any witnesses. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, January 2, 2024 at 8:45am and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Thursday, January 9, 2024 by Warren District Court Judge Steve Bieda.
"What began as a simple argument has ended in senseless loss of life. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and continues to tear families apart, leaving lives shattered. We will work tirelessly to ensure justice is served," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
