Mt. Clemens, MI -  Laura Dietz of Macomb, owner of Dietz Fence Company, took thousands of dollars from different victims in exchange for fence jobs that were never started.

Today, the Macomb County Prosecutors’ Office requested that Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Faunce revoke Dietz’s opportunity for a plea deal and the defendant to be sentenced on the original felony charges for failure to pay restitution.  Judge Faunce sentenced her to 365 days in the Macomb County Jail after her 18 months of probation.  During her probation, she is required to pay restitution in full on all of the cases, have alcohol and drug testing, and have no contact with the victims.

Dietz also has an open case in Macomb County Circuit Court.  It is alleged that on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Dietz used an alias and was paid a downpayment from the victim to install a fence.  A contract was signed by Dietz and the victim but the work was never completed.  Dietz also filed an application with the Macomb Township Building Department under a fake name.  She is charged with False Pretenses of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000, a five-year felony, False Pretenses of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000 Third Offense, a 15-year felony, Larceny by Conversion of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000, a five-year felony, Larceny by Conversion of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000 Third Offense, a ten-year felony, and Obtaining a Signature with Intent to Defraud, a ten-year felony.  A Pre-trial is scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025 at 1:30 pm by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Faunce.

"This individual has demonstrated a repeated pattern of defrauding customers by taking their money without delivering the promised work. Our office remains committed to holding her accountable and ensuring justice for the victims who have been impacted by her actions,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s office represents the People.  We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All who are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
