Eastpointe Father Arraigned for Allegedly Not Paying Child Support, Owing More Than $22K
Mount Clemens, MI - Joseph Anthony Desnoyers, age 30, has been arraigned for failing to pay child support on his minor child.
On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, Joseph Anthony Desnoyers was ordered by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mark Switalski to pay $363.00 per month in child support for his minor child. After a modification in 2023, he was ordered to pay $279.00 per month. He allegedly owes $22,278.17 in back child support for his child. Desnoyers has had two show cause hearings and three bench warrants issued in this case.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Joseph Anthony Desnoyers with Failing to Pay Child Support, a four year felony, after the Macomb County Friend of the Court exhausted their efforts to enforce the court order of paying child support.
Joseph Anthony Desnoyers was arraigned on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in 41B Clinton Township District Court by Magistrate Ryan Zemke where set bond at $5,569.00. His next court date is Monday, September 30, 2024 in Macomb County Circuit Court by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Switalski.
“Owing back child support reflects a blatant disregard for the well-being of this child, and this felony charge serves as a reminder that we take these obligations seriously. Every parent has a duty to ensure their child’s basic needs are met, and neglecting that duty comes with real consequences," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office Family Division investigates and prosecutes felony nonsupport cases which are cases where the noncustodial parent owes more than $5,000 in child support. In order for your case to qualify for review: there must be an arrearage of $5,000 or more, failure to pay for three consecutive months, the noncustodial parent has the ability to pay the court ordered child support amount and lives in Michigan. The goal of this prosecution is to help ensure that the children are financially supported by both parents and to ensure that justice is served according to the law. To start a child support case please call the Office of Child Support at (866) 540-0008 or if you are owed more than $5,000 in child support call our office (586) 493-4488.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
