Dryden Father Arraigned for Failing to Pay Child Support, Owes More Than $9K

Mount Clemens, MI - Paul Clement Viaene, Jr., age 42, has been arraigned for failing to pay child support on his minor children.
On Wednesday, September 3, 2014, Paul Clement Viaene, Jr. was ordered by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Switalski to pay $236.00 per month in child support for his two minor children. In 2019, a modification was made and Viaene was ordered to pay $198.00 a month for one child. He allegedly owes $9,347.51 in back child support. Viaene has had four show cause hearings and three bench warrants issued in this case.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Paul Clement Viaene, Jr. with Failing to Pay Child Support, a four year felony, after the Macomb County Friend of the Court exhausted their efforts to enforce the court order of paying child support.
Paul Clement Viaene, Jr. was arraigned on Thursday, October 24, 2024 in 41B Clinton Township District Court by Magistrate Ryan Zemke where bond was set at $2,336.00. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Monday, November 4, 2024 at 8:30am by District Court Judge Jacob Femminineo, Jr.
"While we take unpaid child support seriously, we also believe in providing individuals with a path forward. Those who owe back child support have the opportunity to establish a payment plan. This approach helps avoid prosecution and enables parents to meet their obligations in a manageable way," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office Family Division handles felony nonsupport cases when a noncustodial parent owes over $5,000 in child support. To qualify for review, the case must involve an arrearage of $5,000 or more, failure to pay for three consecutive months, and the ability of the noncustodial parent to pay. The goal is to ensure children receive financial support from both parents and uphold justice. To start a child support case, call the Office of Child Support at (866) 540-0008, or if owe more than $5,000 and would like to get on a payment plan to avoid possible prosecution, contact the Family Division at (586) 493-4488.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
