Detroit Man Pleads as Charged in Christmas Day Shooting

Deandre Patrick Lawrence, age 24, has pled no contest as charged in the 2023 Christmas Day shooting of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend.

Detroit Man Pleads as Charged in Christmas Day Shooting

Mount Clemens, MI - Deandre Patrick Lawrence, age 24, has pled no contest as charged in the 2023 Christmas Day shooting of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend.

On Monday, December 25, 2023, Deandre Patrick Lawrence went to his ex-girlfriend’s house to deliver presents to his three children.  While at the residence, he got into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend’s live-in boyfriend.   The boyfriend fled the house and Lawrence followed him.  The boyfriend tripped and fell to the ground.  Lawrence shot the boyfriend twice in the back while the victim was on the ground.

Lawrence was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder (life felony), and Felony Firearm (two-year mandatory felony).  He is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, January 28, 2024 at 9:30am by Macomb County Circuit Court Chief Judge James Biernat, Jr.

“This tragic event, especially during a time meant for peace and togetherness, underscores the devastating impact of gun violence. We will pursue every avenue to ensure the safety and security of our community,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
