Detroit Man Arraigned for Allegedly Not Paying Child Support, Owing More Than $5K
Mount Clemens, MI - Charles M. Fluellen, Jr., age 35, has been arraigned for failing to pay child support on his minor child.
October 27, 2015, Charles M. Fluellen, Jr. was ordered by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Edward Servitto to pay $173.00 per month in child support for his minor child. After many modifications he was ordered to pay $201.00 per month. He allegedly owes more than $5,000 in back child support for this minor child. Fluellen has had six show cause hearings and four bench warrants issued in this case.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Charles M. Fluellen, Jr. with Failing to Pay Child Support, a four year felony, after the Macomb County Friend of the Court exhausted their efforts to enforce the court order of paying child support.
Charles M. Fluellen, Jr. was arraigned on Monday, August 26, 2024 in 41B Clinton Township District Court by Magistrate Ryan Zemke who set bond at $1,278.00. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024 at 8:30 am by District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido.
“Our office takes the responsibility of enforcing child support laws very seriously. When parents fail to meet their obligations, it not only harms the children but also places an unfair burden on the custodial parent. We are committed to ensuring that every child receives the support they deserve," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office Family Division investigates and prosecutes felony nonsupport cases which are cases where the noncustodial parent owes more than $5,000 in child support. In order for your case to qualify for review: there must be an arrearage of $5,000 or more, failure to pay for three consecutive months, the noncustodial parent has the ability to pay the court ordered child support amount and lives in Michigan. The goal of this prosecution is to help ensure that the children are financially supported by both parents and to ensure that justice is served according to the law. To start a child support case please call the Office of Child Support at (866) 540-0008 or if you are owed more than $5,000 in child support call (586) 493-4488.
