Detroit Man Arraigned Alleged for Shooting and Subsequent Stabbing of Co-Worker
Mount Clemens, MI - A 47-year-old man was arraigned in connection with an alleged road rage shooting and stabbing of his co-worker.
It is alleged that on Friday, September 13, 2024, Lequan Denelle Brown and his co-worker were leaving work in separate vehicles and while driving near the area of Van Dyke Ave and I-696, Brown shot at the victim’s vehicle multiple times. Later the same day, both men returned to work and Brown attacked the victim with a knife. The victim sustained severe lacerations but is stable and has been released from the hospital.
Lequan Denelle Brown was charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, up to life felonies, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, a five year felony, Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony. He is charged as a habitual third offender.
On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, Lequan Denelle Brown was arraigned in 37th Warren District Court by District Court Judge Suzanne Faunce where bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety. If released the defendant must wear a GPS tether and have no contact with any witnesses. Brown was also referred for a mental health evaluation. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 8:45 am and a Preliminary Exam is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in front of District Court Judge Michael Chupa.
"Our community will not tolerate acts of violence, whether in the workplace or on the road," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. "This assault is a reminder that road rage and aggressive behavior have no place in our society. We will hold individuals accountable for their actions to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone."
