Clinton Township Man Arraigned for Owing Over $14,000 in Unpaid Child Support
Mount Clemens, MI - A 31-year-old man has been arraigned for failing to pay child support for his minor child. After a thorough investigation, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office determined that he has the ability to pay but chose not to cooperate with our office on payment options.
On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mark Switalski ordered Joseph Parker to pay child support for his minor child. After failing to comply with the court’s order and accruing over $14,000 in child support arrearages, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Parker with Failure to Pay Child Support, a four-year felony.
On Monday, February 24, 2025, Parker was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Ryan Zemke, who set the bond at $3,516. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, at 8:30 am in front of District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido.
“Parents have both a legal and moral duty to support their children. By failing to pay child support, this defendant has not only broken the law but has also deprived their child of essential resources. Our office remains dedicated to ensuring individuals are held accountable when they neglect their responsibilities," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
The Family Division of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office oversees felony nonsupport cases where arrears exceed $5,000, payments have not been made for three consecutive months, and there is evidence the noncustodial parent has the financial means to pay. The division’s primary goal is to secure financial support for children while ensuring justice is served.
