Mount Clemens, MI - A 47-year-old Clinton Township man has been arraigned on charges of failing to pay child support for his two minor children.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2016, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Switalski ordered Marcus Koltvedt to pay $481.00 per month in child support. Koltvedt allegedly owes $15,390.40 in unpaid child support. He has had five show cause hearings and four bench warrants issued.

After exhausting all enforcement efforts, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Koltvedt with Failing to Pay Child Support, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison. On Friday, November 22, 2024, Koltvedt was arraigned in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Magistrate Ryan Zemke, who set bond at $3,847.00. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2024, at 8:30am before District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido.

“It's our responsibility to ensure that parents meet their legal and moral obligations to support their children. While we strive to handle these matters fairly and compassionately, holding individuals accountable for unpaid child support is essential to protecting the well-being of the children who rely on it,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Family Division of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office handles felony nonsupport cases where the noncustodial parent owes more than $5,000 in child support. To qualify for review, the case must involve arrears exceeding $5,000, a failure to pay for three consecutive months, and evidence that the noncustodial parent has the ability to pay. The goal is to secure financial support for children from both parents while upholding justice.
