Mount Clemens, MI - A 32-year-old Warren man and a 30-year-old Warren woman were arraigned in connection with the death of their sister’s boyfriend.
On Friday, November 8, 2024, Deandre Bernard Jones allegedly drove to a residence in Warren where his sisters, Keshawna Smith and an unnamed sister, were meeting with Stanley Smith Jr., age 23. Upon arrival, Jones reportedly encountered his sisters and Smith outside the residence and proceeded to shoot Stanley Smith Jr., killing him. Stanley Smith Jr. was the boyfriend of Jones’s unnamed sister. Following the incident, Keshawna Smith allegedly deleted messages and call logs between herself and her brother related to the shooting.
Jones has been charged with Second-Degree Murder, a felony punishable by up to life in prison; Felony Firearm, carrying a mandatory two-year sentence; and Solicitation of Tampering with Evidence, a felony with a maximum sentence of five years. He was arraigned in the 37th Warren District Court, where District Court Judge Suzanne Faunce denied bond. A Probable Cause Hearing is set for Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Preliminary Examination on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., before District Court Judge Michael Chupa.
Keshawna Smith was charged with Tampering with Evidence, a felony punishable by up to ten years. She was also arraigned in the 37th Warren District Court, where Judge Faunce set her bond at $50,000 with no 10% provision. Should she be released, she is prohibited from contacting any witnesses or her co-defendant. Her Probable Cause Hearing and Preliminary Exam are also scheduled for Tuesday, November 26 and Tuesday, December 3, 2024, respectively, before Judge Chupa.
