Bond Denied for Warren Man Who Allegedly Smothered Wife to Death
Mount Clemens, MI - A Warren man has been arraigned for allegedly killing his wife in their Warren home.
It is alleged that on Saturday, July 13, 2024, James Michael Hentges, age 71, smothered his wife, 70-year-old Cheryl Ann Hentges, to death with a pillow. After the alleged murder, he attempted suicide but failed and called 911.
James Michael Hentges was charged with First Degree Premeditated Murder, a life without parole felony. He was arraigned today in 37 Warren District Court where Warren District Court Chief Judge John Chmura denied bond. Hentges will be remanded to the Macomb County Jail. A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 8:45 am by District Court Judge Steve Bieda.
“This tragic incident has left a family shattered and a community in mourning. Our hearts go out to the victim's loved ones as we pursue justice for this unimaginable act," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
