Mount Clemens, MI - A 42-year-old Warren resident was arraigned in connection with the shooting of a two year old boy.

It is alleged that on Saturday, August 3, 2024, April Faith Green was babysitting two children at a Warren home, when the two-year-old victim got ahold of a firearm and shot himself.  The child was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

April Faith Green was charged with Second Degree Child Abuse, a 10 year felony, Safe Storage Violation of a Firearm Inflicting Serous Impairment, a 10 year felony, and two counts of Felony Firearm, a mandatory two year felony.  Green was arraigned in 37 Warren District Court where District Court Judge Steve Bieda set bond at $75,000 cash/surety and upon release Green must wear a GPS tether, have no contact with anyone under 17 and surrender any firearms.  A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 8:45 am by District Court Judge Michael Chupa.

"This incident was a direct result of neglectful behavior, and the devastating consequences are a reminder that we must all take the necessary steps to ensure firearms are securely stored from those who should never have access to them. Our thoughts are with the child and their family, and we are committed to seeking justice and preventing such preventable tragedies in the future," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People.  We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All that are accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
