Notice of public hearing and comments to the Macomb County Solid Waste Management Plan

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Section 11535 of Part 115 of Act 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, as amended, a Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday February 18th at 9:00 am at the Macomb County Administration Building, 9th Floor, Located at 1 South Main St., Mt. Clemens, MI 48043. The purpose is to receive public comments on the proposed amendment to the Macomb County Solid Waste Master Plan to include facility enhancements and extension of the operational life and capacity at Pine Tree Acres Landfill. This facility is located at 36600 29 Mile Rd, Lenox, MI 48048. A 90-day public comment period is currently being held from October 16th, 2025, to January 14th, 2026.

A copy of the proposed amendment and an online comment form is available below. Also, the County’s Designated Planning Agency the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development can be reached at 586-469-5285 for any questions or additional resources on said matter. The Department will accept written comments on the proposed solid waste plan amendment until the close of business on February 17th, 2026. Written comments can be transmitted via the online form at the link above, or mailed to 1 South Main St., 7th Floor, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043, or emailed to planning@macombgov.org with Solid Waste Plan comments in the subject line.

Program overview

The Macomb County Solid Waste Planning Committee ("Committee") is inviting public comment on a Proposed Amendment to the County’s Solid Waste Management Plan, originally adopted in 1999. The amendment is a proactive and necessary step to secure the region’s long-term environmental health, promote sustainable growth, and ensure Macomb County remains a hub for economic opportunity and innovation.
