Press Release
MSU Extension has opened registration for its upcoming Foundations of Gardening course, a comprehensive online educational program created for casual gardeners and gardening enthusiasts alike.  The course content is designed to help participants learn how to create and care for beautiful, productive, and sustainable gardens and take their gardening “know-how” to the next level.

Foundations of Gardening is scheduled to run September 3 through November 19, 2024. Topics covered by the course include plant science, soils, common pests and diseases, lawn care, trees, shrubs, growing fruits and vegetables, and environmental gardening. The self-paced curriculum focuses on weekly topics with modules that include online activities and videos, as well as live weekly lectures hosted by MSU Extension experts that enhance the learning experience.

Participants who successfully meet course requirements receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program and may also apply to become a MSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer if desired.
